Flavia Domitilla was the wife of Titus Flavius Clemens, a Roman consul, and daughter of Emperor Domitian's sister. She was converted to Christianity and was banished to the island of Pandatania (Pandateria) in the Tyrrhenian Sea for her faith after her husband was martyred in 96 AD. A niece by marriage, also called Domitilla, was banished to the island of Ponza for her faith and may have been burned to death when she refused to sacrifice to the gods. In art, Flavia Domitilla is portrayed as a noblewoman holding a palm, crowned by angels, with SS Achilleus and Nereus. They were eunuchs or chamberlains belonging to St Flavia Domitilla, zealous Christians, and with her were banished by Domitian into a little isle on the coast of Terracina, called Pontia. Their acts say, that they were afterwards beheaded at Terracina, under Trajan. Their festival was kept at Rome with great solemnity in the sixth age, when St Gregory the Great spoke on it his twenty-eighth homily, in which he says: “These saints before whose tomb we are assembled, despised the world and trampled it under their feet, when peace, plenty, riches, and health gave it charms.” Their old church in Rome lay in ruins, when Baronius, to whom it gave the title of cardinal, rebuilt it with splendour, and restored to it their relics, which had been removed to the chapel of St Adrian.
FLAVIA Domitilla the Elder and her foster sisters EUPHROSYNA and THEODORA (2nd c.) in Terracina in Italy
Flavia Domitilla was a great-niece of the Emperors Domitian and daughter of his sister Domitilla given in marriage to his cousin-german St Flavius Clemens, son to a brother of Vespasia; and Titus. She became Orthodox. On refusing to marry a pagan she was exiled from Rome and martyred with her foster sisters, Euphrosyna and Theodora, in Terracina in Italy.

AILITIR (Elitir) of Mucinis (Muic-Inis) (6th c.) Lough Derg, and of Clonmacnoise, King's County
The word, Ailitir, or Elithir, signifies "a pilgrim" and, hence, it may not necessarily be a proper name. At the year 595, however, the Annals of the Four Masters state, that Ailithir, Abbot of Cluain-mic-nois, died. He was the fourth Abbot, having succeeded Mac Nissi, who departed this life, on June the 12th, A.D. 585. The Ailithir, there mentioned, has been identified with the present saint. The Annals of Ulster record his death, at A.D. 598; while, those of Tighernach and the "Chronicum Scotorum" place it, at A.D. 599. The latter authority states, that his family was of the Muscraidhe. This day, the Martyrology of Donegal records a veneration paid to Elitir, of Muic-inis, in Loch Derg-derc.

Some sources list him as one of 70 Disciples, and say that he was sent by Saint Peter the Apostle to evangelize in Italy in 58, but it’s hard to reconcile that with his death 250 years later.

Saint Epiphanios was born a Jew in Palestine, but he and his sister came to faith in Christ and were baptized together. Epiphanios gave all his possessions to the poor and became a monk. He knew St Hilarion the great (October 31), and traveled among the monks of Egypt to learn their ways and wisdom. The fame of his virtue spread so widely that several attempts were made to make him bishop, first in Egypt, then in Cyprus. Whenever Epiphanios heard of these plans, he fled the area. He was finally made bishop by means of a storm: told to go to Cyprus, he took ship instead for Gaza, but a contrary wind blew his ship directly to Cyprus, where Epiphanios fell into the hands of bishops who had come together to elect a successor to the newly-departed Bishop of Constantia, and the venerable Epiphanios was at last constrained to be consecrated, about the year 367. He guarded his flock faithfully for the remainder of his life, working many miracles, defending the Church against the Arian heresy, and composing several books, of which the best-loved is the Panarion (from the Latin for 'bread-box'), an exposition of the Faith and an examination of eighty heresies. He was sometimes called the 'Five-tongued' because he was fluent in Hebrew, Egyptian, Syriac, Greek and Latin.

Saint Germanos was the son of a prominent family, in Constantinople. He became Metropolitan of Cyzicus, then was elevated to the throne at Constantinople in 715. It was he who baptized the infant Constantine, who for his whole life was nicknamed "Copronymos" because he defecated in the baptismal font (though he was neither the first nor the last infant to do so). At this incident, Patriarch Germanos is said to have prophesied that the child would one day bring some foul heresy upon the Church, which he did, becoming a notorious iconoclast as emperor. Germanos openly opposed the decree of the Emperor Leo the Isaurian which began the persecution of the holy icons. For this he was deposed and driven into exile in 730. He lived the rest of his life in peace. Saint Germanos is the composer of many of the Church's hymns, notably those for the Feast of the Meeting in the Temple.

LEO of Methoni
Saint Leo of Methoni was born in Calabria of Italy and it is said that he "possessed only one garment and was barefoot, fasting and keeping vigils." During a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, being overwhelmed by his ascetic lifestyle, he died at sea once Methoni could be seen, which from the fourth century was an obligatory stop for travelers to and from the Holy Land. Then the sailors buried his lifeless body on the beach of Methoni. Years later Saint Leo appeared to Bishop Nicholas of Methoni, an eminent theologian of the 20th century, who proceeded to transfer his sacred relic, which immediately began to be a source of miracles. The honor of the Saint ceased around the year 1600, then more than four hundred years later Metropolitan Chrysostomos III of Messinia (2007-present) reinstated his memory to be celebrated on May 12th.
