• Meeting of the VLADIMIR Icon of the Mother of God at Russia (1130) in memory of the Saving (1480) of Moscow from the Invasion of Khan Achmed
Moskow was besieged by the Tartar king Ahmet. Prince Ivan Vasillievich brought troops to defend the city, but they were far outnumbered by the Tartar forces. Despairing of their hope in human protection, the people of the city pleaded for deliverance to the holy Mother of God before her icon. The Tartar forces were unaccountably struck with terror, and retreated in confusion, saving the city. On this day, the miracle, and the holy icon through which it was brought about, is commemorated in Russia.
• ZAONIKEEVSK Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God (1588)
The Zaonikievsk Icon of the Mother of God was found in the year 1588 by the Vologda peasant Ilarion ― the future Monk Joseph of Zaonikievsk. After long prayers for the restoration of his lost health, there appeared to Ilarion the Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian, and they promised him healing. Having gone to the place bidden to him by the saints, Ilarion suddenly saw amidst an extraordinary light an icon of the Mother of God. Bowing down before it, he was healed, then accepted monasticism with the name Joseph and founded on this spot the Zaonikievsk monastery. The icon was glorified by numerous healings.

On 23 June 1821 a Synod took place at the Metropolis of Crete, in the Church of Saint Menas, where the Bishop of Crete began to read a letter sent from the vizier. The hostile enemies then rushed into the church and murdered the Hierarchs, seventeen Priests and five Athonite fathers from Vatopaidi Monastery, who presented in the Great Castle holy relics and the Holy Belt of the Theotokos during the plague epidemic. They also killed three hundred Christians who were in attendance. From there, they dispersed into the city, and they mercilessly killed any Christian they encountered on the street, and there they also encountered Bishop Hierotheos of Lampis, who they killed along with his deacon. The next day, in the village of Epano Fourni, where the Diocese of Petra was located, they shot with a rifle Bishop Joachim outside the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Ἡ Ὁσία Ἐθελδρέδα ἡ βασίλισσα
Sister of St Jurmin. Relative of King Anna of East Anglia, England. Princess. Widowed after three years marriage; rumor had it that the marriage was never consumated as Etheldrda had taken a vow of perpetual virginity. She married again for political reasons. Her new husband knew of her vow, but grew tired of living as brother and sister, and began to make advances on her; she refused him. He tried to bribe the local bishop, Saint Wilfrid of York, to release her from her vow; Wilfrid refused, and instead helped Audrey escape to a promontory called Colbert's Head. A high tide then came in - and stayed high for seven days; it kept her separated from her husband and was considered divine intervention. The young man gave up; the marriage was annulled, and Audrey took the veil. She spent a year with her neice, Saint Ebbe the Elder. Founded the great abbey of Ely, where she lived an austere life. Etheldreda died of an enormous and unsightly tumor on her neck. She gratefully accepted this as Divine retribution for all the necklaces she had worn in her early years. In the Middle Ages, a festival called Saint Audrey's Fair, was held at Ely on her feast day. The exceptional shodiness of the merchandise, especially the neckerchiefs, contributed to the English language the word tawdry, a corruption of Saint Audrey.

• Repose of Schemamonk ZOSIMAS of Solovki (1855)
Theophilus, out of envy toward the bishop, rendered his soul to the devil and, in writing, renounced Christ and the Birth-giver of God [Theotokos]. However, after that Theophilus repented bitterly and obtained the forgiveness of the Holy All-pure One. After forty days of fasting and tearful prayers, Theophilus received back the paper he had written renouncing Christ, which he had given to the devil, and openly confessed his sin in church before the bishop and the people. When the bishop pronounced the words of forgiveness and administered Holy Communion to him, the face of Theophilus shone as the sun. Behold, an example of how the merciful God not only forgives the sins of true penitents but also includes them among the saints.
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.
愿上帝怜恤我罪人
O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God,
for the sake of the prayers
of Thy most pure Mother,
our holy and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us.
Amen.
