• The Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos on Mt Athos Panagia "GLYKOPHYLOUSA" ("Sweet-kissing") 甘饴之吻
The Glykophilousa Icon belongs to the Eleousa (the Virgin of Tenderness) category of icons, where the Mother accepts the affection shown by the Child Christ. The icon is commemorated by the Church on March 27 and also on Bright Monday. The icon depicts the Theotokos inclining toward Christ, Who embraces her. She seems to be embracing Him more tightly than in other icons, and her expression is more affectionate. The Icon is located on a pillar on the left side of the katholikon (main church).
• The Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos on Mt Athos "OF THE AKATHIST" 弗坐词
The "Akathist" Icon of the Mother of God is on the iconostasis of the Hilandar Monastery’s katholikon. It is known as the "Akathist" Icon because, during a fire at the katholikon in 1837, an Akathist was being read before the icon, and it remained unharmed, to the joy of the monks.This icon should not be confused with the Zographou Icon "Of the Akathist" (October 10) and Hilandar Icon "Of the Akathist" (January 12).

Such a memorandum was unprecedented for the Bolshevik regime and the response by them was immediate. In February 1923, Patr. Ambrose and his council were arrested and imprisoned. In a public show trial, Patr. Ambrose and his fellow clergy were accused of hiding historic treasures of the Church in order to keep them from passing into the hands of the Soviet state. In his defense at the end of the trial, Patr. Ambrose stated, My soul belongs to God, my heart to my country; you, my executioners, do what you will with my body." While expecting execution, the Bolsheviks did not dare to execute him and sentenced Patr. Ambrose to eight years imprisonment. His property was also confiscated. During the time of his imprisonment from 1923, Metr. Kalistrate was locum tenens. The public outcry over the extent of the Red Terror in Georgia caused the Bolsheviks to moderate their pressure on Georgian society. In March 1926, the Bolsheviks put forward an amnesty for the 1924 insurrection and suspension of religious persecutions. Later in 1926, Ambrose and a few Georgian clergy were released from prison. However, the strains of the years showed, and Patr. Ambrose soon reposed in Tbilisi on March 29, 1927.

Local tradition claims that she was a Saxon princess (and probably a nun). Apparently she was strangled by Danish pirates (or their women), because that is how she is depicted in an ancient painting. She was buried in a church at Middleham.

Prophet ANANIAS (Hanani) 阿纳尼亚 in the time of King Asa, who was imprisoned (II Chronicles 16:7-10)

The Prophet Hanani was sent by the Lord to rebuke King Asa of Judah for entering into a league with Benhadad I, King of Syria (Aram), against the northern kingdom of Israel (2 Chr. 16:1-10). This Hanani was also probably the father of the Prophet Jehu (1 Kings 16:7). In 2 Chronicles 16 we read of him:
At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand. Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.
Asa was angry with the seer because of this; he was so enraged that he put him in prison. At the same time Asa brutally oppressed some of the people.
The events of Asa's reign, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek help from the Lord, but only from the physicians. Then in the forty-first year of his reign Asa died and rested with his ancestors.
The Holy Prophet Hanani reposed in peace.

• VM AUGUSTA at Serravalle in Venetia (or Venezia) near Treviso in Northern Italy (5th c.) daughter of the Teuton Duke of Friuli, martyred by her father, venerated in Serravalle near Treviso
Saint Augusta's conversion to Christianity so enraged her father, the Teuton duke of Friuli, that he killed her with his own hand. She had an early cultus at Serravalle, near Treviso, in northern Italy. Augusta's emblem in art is a sword. She is generally pictured on her funeral pyre holding a sword. Sometimes the image includes her father who is killing her (like Saint Barbara, who is more likely to be the saint portrayed in this way) or with a wheel like Saint Catherine of Alexandria. She is venerated in Serravalle (Treviso).

JOHN 约安 the Discerner, Clairvoyant of Lycopolis, anchorite of Egypt (394)

• Transation of Relics of Martyr JUSTINUS of Lupara (today Louvre of Paris) (304) France
According to tradition, Justinus died at an adolescent age in the persecutions under Emperor Diocletian in Louvre - the settlement on the site of today's Louvre Museum in Paris. Justinus' bones rest in the church of Notre Dame in Paris. In 891 relics were brought to Corvey, 949 by King Otto I also Justinus' head. The story of the torment of Justinus is broadly similar to that of Justus de Beauvais, who also has relics in Corvey.

LYDIA of Thyatira at Phillippi, Dcn. (49) the Apostle Paul's first convert to Christianity in Europe // MAR 27 // JUN 25 //
As described in the Acts, Lydia was a "seller of purple", a person who traded in purple dyes and fabrics for which the city of Thyatira was noted. Purple goods were part of a high value industry and were used by emperors, high government officials, and priests of the pagan religions. Tradition relates that she and her husband may have been involved in this business. At some point Lydia and her household moved from Asia Minor to the city of Philippi in Macedonia. The reasons she moved may have been business related as Philippi was a Roman colony on the major east-west trade route, the Egnation Highway, between Rome and Asia. Also, she may have been a Jewish convert who no longer could worship in the custom of the Thyatirans. The words of The Acts quoted below describe Lydia's meeting with the Apostle Paul on his second missionary journey about the year 50. Paul and his companions started their journey visiting the established churches in western Asia Minor when he answered a vision in which he saw a man dressed in a Macedonian manner calling upon him to "Come over to Macedonia and help us." Paul's custom was to find local synagogues in which he would preach. But, apparently the Jewish population in Philippi was not sufficient to allow holding Sabbath Services for the Jewish men. Thus, Paul's party walked out of the city following the Gangites River (now called the Angista River) when they came upon a group of women praying in the manner of Jews, along flowing water. After greeting the women, Paul and his companions sat down and shared the good news of Christ's salvation with them. Lydia, among the women, had listened attentively and took the message to heart. She and her family were then baptized in the Gangites River along which they had been praying. Thus, Lydia became the first person in Europe to become a follower of Christ. As Acts notes, Paul and his companions were well received by Lydia as they stay at her house after their release from the Philippi prison. Surely, during their imprisonment, Lydia and those who assembled in her home spent the night in prayer for the release of Paul and Silas, making her home the first Christian Church in Europe. When Paul departed from Philippi he left Luke behind to preach the Gospel and to establish firmly the church in Philippi, using as its core Lydia, the jailer, and their households. Paul speaks fondly, in his letter to the Philippians, of the brethren who were members of the church of Philippi, calling them "…my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown…". (Philippians 4:1)

Saint Matrona an orphan girl was the maid-servant of a Jewish mistress named Pantila, the wife of a Thessalonian general. One day she accompanied her mistress to the synagogue, but instead of entering it, she proceeded toward the church. She was discovered, cruelly beaten, and thrown into prison, where she remained four days without anything to eat. Taken out of prison, she was beaten again and finally died in prison.
