The Icon of the Mother of God – "Pledge for Sinners" ("Sporuchnitsa Greshnykh") – is called thus because of the inscription preserved on the icon: "I am a Pledge in trust for sinners to My Son...".
This image was first glorified by miracles at the Nikolaevsk Odrina (i.o. Bed Chamber) men's monastery of the former Orlovsk governance in the mid19th Century. The ancient icon of the Mother of God "Pledge for Sinners" because of its old condition was not afforded the proper reverence and stood in an old chaplet at the monastery gates. But in 1843 it was revealed in vision-dreams to many of the people, that through the Prescience of God, the icon was embued with miraculous power. They solemnly conveyed the icon into the church. Believers began to throng to it in prayer for the healing of their sorrows and sicknesses. The first to receive healing was a crippled lad, the mother of whom prayed fervently before the icon. The icon was glorified in particular during the time of a cholera epidemic, when many fell deathly ill, and making their way to it, were by it restored to health. At the monastery in honour of the wonderworking image was built a large church with three altars. On the Icon "Pledge for Sinners", the Mother of God is depicted with the Christ-Child on Her left arm, Who with both His hands holds onto Her right hand. The heads of the Mother of God and the Christ-Child are set in crowns. In 1848, through the zeal of the Muscovite Dimitrii Boncheskul, a copy was made of the wonderworking image and placed in his home. Soon it was glorified as a source of curative myrh, given to many for restoration of health from grievous illnesses. They carried this wonderworking copy into a church of Saint Nicholas at Chamovnika, where then was built a chapel in honour of the Icon of the Mother of God "Pledge for Sinners".

Panagia PHANEROMENI in Salamis
The holy Phaneromene monastery on Salamis is located at the north side of the island opposite to Nea Peramos, Megara. It was established in the 17th century from Lampros Canellos, later on Saint Laurentios. This pious christian and inhabitant of Megara saw Panagia in a vision who commanded him to go to the place she indicated, in order to build her church. In the beginning he hesitated to obey and it was necessary for Panagia to appear for a second and a third time to him. Finally, he came to the beach, in 1640, in order to pass opposite to Salamis. But the sea was so rough and there was no boat around there, so it seemed impossible to pass across. As he was sitting and thinking, he heard an unworldly voice voice saying: Throw your cape on the sea and sitting on it it will guide you to the island in safety. Expelling every fear, he passed the sea on his cape and reached at Salamina. Digging in the ruins of an older monastery of the 13th century, at the place indicated by Panagia, he found her miraculous icon, blackened by humidity, but a real treasure for the island and for Orthodoxy. The icon of the Theotokos was named Phaneromene, which means revealed, because it was indeed revealed to the Saint. The monastery was reconstructed by the saint in 1682 a.c, and received the same name, too. The saint became a monk and then a charismatic abbot with the name Laurentios. During the Revolution of 1821, the monastery of Faneromeni constituted a hospital for the fighters and a sanctuary for the civilians. There were days when 75 000 people were fed there. The numerous animals were sacrificed for the needs of maintenance. The forest of the monastery was cut for sheltering and heating. But, there were days that there was no flour left to make a holy bread. The legendary abbot of the monastery Gregorios was an active member of the Filiki Eteria. In this monastery fighters such as Makriyannis, Tzavelas, Ypsilantis, Karaiskakis and many more were hosted and held meetings and attributed their rescue to Panagia. Kütahı, attempted repeatedly to occupy the monastery without success. In the monastery yard lies the grave of captain Ioannis Gouras Also, the library and the printing shop of Athens were hosted here. In the entrance of the monastery, in the side of the sea, lies the residence where poet Angelos Sikelianos lived. In the 20th century it started to decline. But in 1944, the metropolitan Iakovos transformed the monastery to female and installed a brotherhood, giving life to it. Today the nuns are 18. The monastery is dedicated to the Assumption of Theotokos and celebrates on 23 of August.
Synaxis of St DANDUS 丹铎 and ALL SAINTS OF THRACE
Thrace is a geographical and historical area in southeast Europe, now split between Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, which is bounded by the Balkan Mountains to the north, the Aegean Sea to the south and the Black Sea to the east. It comprises southeastern Bulgaria (Northern Thrace), northeastern Greece (Western Thrace) and the European part of Turkey (Eastern Thrace).
Synaxis of the Saints of the DODECANESE
The Dodecanese (Greek: Δωδεκάνησα, Dodekánisa, literally "twelve islands") are a group of 15 larger plus 150 smaller Greek islands in the southeastern Aegean Sea, off the coast of Asia Minor (Turkey), of which 26 are inhabited. Τhis island group generally defines the eastern limit of the Sea of Crete. They belong to the wider Southern Sporades island group. The most historically important and well-known is Rhodes, which has been the area's dominant island since antiquity. Of the others, Kos and Patmos are historically the more important; the remaining eleven are Agathonisi, Astypalaia, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kasos, Leipsoi, Leros, Nisyros, Symi, Tilos, and Kastellorizo. Other islands in the chain include Alimia, Arkoi, Chalki, Farmakonisi, Gyali, Kinaros, Levitha, Marathos, Nimos, Pserimos, Saria, Strongyli, Syrna and Telendos.
On March 7th is celebrated the integration of the Dodecanese with Greece, after several years of bondage and struggles. On the same day, however, it was defined by our venerable Ecumenical Patriarchate, at the proposal of His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrose of Karpathos and Kasos, for the Dodecanese to honor all the Saints, Apostles, Venerable Ones, Martyrs and New Martyrs of the Dodecanese. An icon was even painted by the Hagiographer Victor Stoupka, which was offered to His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, when he visited the Dodecanese in 1994. MOCELLOC (originally called Celloc or perhaps Cellan) of Magh-Scethe
He was one of the first converts to our holy faith in Ireland, having flourished before St Patrick's time, according to our ancient records. It is said, our saint was baptized, so early as A.D. 347 and in common with six other holy men, constructed separate cells in a place, called Magh-Scethe, which signifies,"the Plain of the Buckler," near the present site of Lismore. Mocelloc lived as a hermit, in his cell or oratory, according to tradition, many years before the Gospel had been preached in these parts, by Saints Declan, Ailbe and Kieran. In common with other religious eremites of the place, Mocelloc is said to have had a vision, on the night of St Declan's birth, and that, in consequence, he predicted this infant's future greatness, by declaring that the country and people around should one day be subject to his spiritual rule. After this prediction, the Acts of St Declan state, that seven just men were baptized, in the name of the most Holy Trinity; and, afterwards, having constructed cells, they lived there in a religious manner. From whom they received baptism, or at what exact time, we are not informed. On St Declan's return from Rome, these seven eremites — among whom our saint was included — waited on him, and placed their cells, with their own persons, under his rule and direction. St Declan's habitation was at Ardmore, at present, the head of a parish, in the barony of Decies within Drum, in the county of Waterford.
