• Icon of the Mother of God "THE KASPEROV" (1854) // JUN 29 // OCT 1 // BRIGHT WEDNESDAY //
Tradition says that this holy icon had been brought to Cherson from Transylvania by a Serb at the end of the sixteenth century. Passing down from parent and child, the icon had come to a certain Mrs. Kasperova of Cherson in 1809. One night in February of 1840 she was praying, seeking consolation in her many sorrows. Looking at the icon of the Virgin, she noticed that the features of the icon, darkened by age, had suddenly become bright. The icon was soon glorified by many miracles, and people regarded it as wonder-working. During the Crimean War in the mid-1800s, the icon was carried in procession through the city of Odessa, which was besieged by enemy forces. On Great and Holy Friday, the city was spared. Since that time, an Akathist has been served before the icon in the Dormition Cathedral of Odessa every Friday. The icon was written with oils on a canvas mounted on wood. The Mother of God holds Her Son on her left arm, and the Child holds a scroll. St. John the Baptist is depicted on one side of the icon, and St Tatiana on the other. These were probably the patron saints of the original owners of the icon.

Was received as a gift from the wandering monk by the pious widow Maria Savich, who, receiving the miraculous help from the icon, built her a stone church in the village of Reshneve in the Kremenets district of the Volyn province. In 1650, during the consecration of the temple, the infant was healed from paralysis by the mother's prayer. The icon is a copy of the Iberian, but the locals are called "Joy of All Who Sorrow".

• Icon of The Mother of God of SUMORIN in Totma (near Vologda, Russia) (1554)
Icon of the Mother of God was famous for many miracles in the Savior-of-Sumorin monastery of the city of Totma. When the inhabitants of the city appealed to Tsar Ivan the Terrible for permission to build a monastery in their city, the Rostov Archbishop Nikandr in 1554 issued a letter to St Theodosius to build. The abbot of the Prilutsk Monastery blessed the Reverend Icon of the Mother of God for the successful construction of the new monastery. The icon was named Sumorin-Totma (Sumorinskaya - after the name of St Theodosius - Sumorin). After the death of the Monk, the miraculous icon was in the cave before the shrine of the saint in the Ascension temple of the monastery. To many sick the Monk Theodosius was holding this icon in his hands.

This feast day commemorates the martyrdom of the two great Apostles, assigned by tradition to the same day of June in the year 67. For the lives of these two great Apostles, we can only recommend a reading of the entire New Testament, which contains accounts of their lives and many of their inspired writings. St Peter, after preaching in Judea, Antioch and parts of Asia, came to Rome, where he was crucified by order of the Emperor Nero, about the year 66. Being led to the cross, he begged the executioner to crucify him upside-down, because he felt unworthy to partake of the same death as the Savior. St Paul's apostolic labors extended from Arabia to Spain. He also ended his earthly course in Rome, beheaded by order of Nero, some say at the same time that St Peter was crucified.
