She was 18 years old when she won the Martyr's crown. God's punishment quickly befell Eleusius: as he was sailing on the sea, his ship broke up and he fell into the water. He did not find death in the water, but swam to an island, where dogs tore him to pieces and devoured him.

Bishop of Antioch, Syria in 599. Fought simony in his diocese with the support of Pope Gregory the Great. Murdered by a mob during an uprising of Syrian Jews against Emperor Phocas who was trying to force conversions; because he died in anti-Church violence, he is considered a martyr.

She was yet a child when her father, King Edward, laid before her on one hand precious royal ornaments, on the other a penitential religious habit, bidding her take her choice. The royal virgin with great joy took up the latter: whereupon her parents put her in the nunnery of St. Mary, to be educated under the care of the Abbess Etheldreda, where she afterwards became a nun, and having served God with great fervour, died of a fever.
Name Edburge signifies "happy city".

Themistocles was a shepherd of Myra, Lycia, who was beheaded because he refused to disclose the hiding place of Saint Dioscorus. In art St. Themistocles is a shepherd with iron caltrops near him.
