Daniel was a priest; Verda a woman. The two were arrested and tortured in Persia during the persecution of King Shapur II. They are highly venerated in the East.

• Hosiosmartyrs GERMANUS Abbot of Granfield in the Val Moutier in Switzerland, and monk RANDOALD (344) Germanus Born in Trier in Germany, he became a monk at Remiremont in the east of France. From there he went to Luxeuil and later he became Abbot of Granfield in the Val Moutier in Switzerland. Together with another monk, Randoald, he was martyred by the local magnate while interceding on behalf of the poor.

As such, he was especially prominent at the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea 325 A.D., where he intellectually and systematically refuted the teaching of Arius. With the other Holy Fathers, Eustathius confessed correctly that Jesus Christ, as the Son of God, is equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit according to divine Hypostasis (i.o. natures).

Born at Kromna near Amastris on the Black Sea. Saint George was a hermit on Mount Sirik, then a monk of Bonyssa, and finally bishop of Amastris. He successfully defended his episcopal city during the Saracen attacks.

As an advocate, John was ordained a priest and after that became patriarch in the year 565 A.D. He complied canons, which were included in the Nomo-Canon. During his time, the divine hymn, The Cherubic Hymn, as well as the prayer before Holy Communion of Thy Mystical Supper were included in the Holy and Divine Liturgy.

Paterius, a Roman monk, was a disciple and friend of Pope Saint Gregory the Great. He was a notary in the Roman Church, who was raised to the see of Brescia, Lombardy. Paterius was a prolific writer on Biblical subjects.

Saint Peter was a scribe (chartularius) in Majuma, Palestine, where he was executed for his faith by the Arab sheik of Damascus.

• VALERIUS (695) born in Astorga in Spain, he became a monk and Abbot of San Pedro de Montes. He left several ascetic writings

• Sainted ZACHARIAS 匝哈利亚 the Skevophylax, Patriarch of Jerusalem (629)
Ὁ Ἅγιος Ζαχαρίας Πατριάρχης Ἱεροσολύμων
He was the Skevophylax, keeper of the sacred vessels in the Church of Constantinople, then was made Patriarch of Jerusalem in 609. When the Persians took Jerusalem in 614 and took the Precious Cross of our Lord as a trophy, Zachariah went to Persia with the Cross, clasping it in his arms. In 631 the Emperor Heraclius conquered the Persians and recovered the Cross, bringing it to Constantinople. According to one account, Zachariah returned with the Cross, then returned to governing the Church in Jerusalem until his repose in 632 when Modestus (who had been acting in his absence) succeeded him. According to another account, Saint Zachariah died in exile, and Modestus was made Patriarch when the Holy Cross returned to Jerusalem.
