Priest. In 519, to serve God anonymously, he migrated to the area around Trier, Germany, and became a hermit in a cell at Oberwesel on the Rhein. Well known for sanctity, prophecies, and miracles. Refused the archbishopric of Trier. Charlemagne built a stately church over Goar's hermitage, around which the town of St Guvet grew on the left bank of the Rhine between Wesel and Boppard.

She reposed at the age of 16 and was enshrined in the Kyiv Caves monastery among the Holy Fathers.

Modwenna is associated with Saint Edith of Polesworth. She was formerly venerated at Burton-on-Trent. Modwenna is a fairly obscure character who has been confused with the Irish saint Moninne, abbess of Killeavy. In art, Modwenna is portrayed as an abbess with a red cow by her side.

Born to an ancient Gallo-Roman family. Deacon in Rome. Dispatched St Germanus of Auxerre to Britain in 429 to fight Pelagianism. Missionary bishop for Ireland in 431, sent by Pope St Celestine I. Consecrated bishop of the Scots in 431. Evangelized around Leinster where he built three churches, converted some people, and faced strong opposition. He decided that the Irish were not truly ready to receive message, and took his work to Scotland. Founded churches at Kelleen Cormac, Tigroney, and Donard. Began evangelizing the Picts, but died soon after. His story was written by St Prosper of Aquitaine.

St Sisoes, Schemamonk of the Kiev Caves (13th c.), is commemorated in the general service of the Monastic Fathers of Kiev Caves whose relics rest in the Far Caves. He is mentioned together with Saint Gregory the Faster: “Sisoes the wondrous and Gregory, a name courageous, having by fasting both restrained their passions, humble the fierce lust of our flesh: for unto you is given the grace to help us in our passions” (5th Ode of the Canon).
