Forefeast of the Nativity of Christ
• Icon of the Mother of God Igumenia of Manjava Skete, in the Carpathian mountains of western Ukraine (1652)
In 1652 there was the plague epidemic in skete and the neighbouring areas. Many monks were dying from it. The remaining monks were pleading to God for mercy. On December 22, 1652 the Manyava hieromonk Filaret had a dream vision of Blessed Theotokos being dressed in a red hegumen´s cloak, who came in through the monastery gates and entered the Church of Anunciation of Virgin Mary and having stopped there, said. "The plague will already stop". In remembrance of this event there is an icon "Hegumenia of the Manyava monastery" kept in the skete.

Alexandra became a nun, as Sister Anastasia, taking Holy Orders on 3 November 1889 in Kiev. For the rest of her life, she worked at the hospital performing nursing duties, helping contagious patents and cleaning infected wounds. She often assisted in surgeries.

The death of St Ernan was tragic. Being seized with an illness, he desired to be carried to Iona. St Columba, greatly rejoiced at his coming, started to meet him. Ernan likewise hastened but when he was 24 paces from his nephew he fell to the earth and died. Thus was the prophecy of St Columba fulfilled, that he would never again see Ernan alive.

St Evin wrote a Life of St Patrick, partly in Latin and partly in Irish; and it is said to contain many more details of St Patrick's life and mission than there are in any other Life of the Saint. In the Calendar of Angus he is called "Pure Emhin from the brink of the dumb Barrow". The well that springs at a little distance from the present mansion was in all probability originally St Evin's well.
• Martyr FLAVIAN (363) an ex-prefect of Rome, branded on the forehead as a slave and exiled to the village of Acquapendente in Tuscany in Italy by Julian the Apostate. He was tortured and died of his wounds while in prayer
